Direct Care Day

Direct Care Day

Direct Care Day

On September 17, 2019, direct care and support staff met together at the Indigo Hotel in East Liberty for a day of connectivity, appreciation, team building, and fun. Direct Care Day is held annually to provide an opportunity for direct care and support staff
to build a sense of community, strengthen team work, and be recognized for their contributions to TSI.

The morning began with a continental breakfast after which staff members participated in an Ice Breaker Activity. Table groups then worked together to design Agency Emblems on butcher paper to represent TSl's mission, vision, and 50 years of service. Laughter filled the room shortly after during the Body Language Challenge, a game that resembled "Whisper Down the Lane" but with motions and non- verbal gestures to stress the importance of body language and communication. Other group activities encouraged creativity, problem-solving skills, and working together.

A delicious lunch was served before the day ended with CEO Mary Anne presenting data on Employee Satisfaction, welcoming staff to take part in providing reactions and suggestions for ways to improve satisfaction in various areas of the agency. On reflecting how the day went, Training Specialist Kellie Burnett remarked, "TSI Direct Care Day 2019 exceeded every expectation I imagined!"
